Zero Tolerance Policy = Zero Intelligence
I think school Zero Tolerance Policies are the biggest load of bullsh@% to ever be brought into the school disciplinary environment. I mean really. One kid can get the crap beat out of him by a school bully and because of Zero Tolerance both kids gets suspended from school. That has got to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of.
I don’t currently have a child of school age yet, he is only 14 months old, and they were just starting with this type of policy when I was leaving school. So I personally have no immediate experience with it, just seeing second-hand incidents from schools where friend’s children attend and some of the popular stories about this that hit Yahoo News. I can’t believe that this is a policy. The schools no longer have to make any judgment calls. They just say, “Oh a fight…well because of Zero Tolerance suspend all parties involved.”
Some of the stories on the internet are just insane. I can’t believe that school teachers and principals can interpret this policy in this way. The one that sticks out the most in my mind is the one of an elementary aged boy who brought in a small action figure with a gun for show and tell. Because of the Zero Tolerance policy the principal said the boy had brought a weapon or weapon replica to school and suspended him for it. I believe that they even got the cops involved. The gun was FREAKING LIKE 1 INCH BIG!!!!!! Are you serious principal?!?!? Who the hell is that child going to threaten with that? How the hell is someone going to mistake that for a real gun? I guess much like that school district mistook you for a principal with intelligence. This kid loved school and we haul him off to the principal’s office because of a Lego toy gun that is an inch big.
Zero Tolerance is absolutely stupid. Adults need to use their brain and make an educated decision not hide behind a policy that was not made to harass a nine year old and his Lego’s. Who in their right mind would interpret the policy that way?!?!? I just can’t get over how stupid some people are. Maybe parents should get together and make a Zero Tolerance policy for poor educators.

You already know how I feel about the Zero Tolerance Rule !!! Remember when your own brother was affected by it? He was in 5th grade and an 8th grader kept punching him on the bus. Your brother kept telling him to stop it !!!! But……”NO”…the kid kept it up and even began poking your brother in the face. Finally your brother grabbed hold of the kid’s shirt and said, “Look, I told you to quit it!” The 8th grader then proceeded to beat your brother unconscious, onto the bus floor.
When the bus pulled into the school and the Principal became involved…….law enforcement was called for the 8th grader and I was called for my son, because he was still only semi-conscious!! When I arrived at school, I was informed of the “Zero-Tolerance Policy” and that your brother would be suspended, too, because when he grabbed the other boy’s shirt, it was considered an act of aggression. And they also said that that is what started the fight, so they considered your brother at fault, also.
SERIOUSLY ???!!!!!
Tried to put a stop to it and then knocked unconscious……but still at fault and suspended. And this policy makes sense….HOW???
